In a small seaside town sits Seafare, a failing family run shop selling holiday knick-knacks, souvenirs, and tat. Alongside this, their tiny kitchen churns out bacon butties for the sailors returning from their morning haul. The funds raised from the sale of stock goes to support the local RNLI service, of which John, who owns the shop, is a part of.

It’s all rather cosy, but Judy and Kate, John’s wife and adult daughter are bearing the brunt of work while John works away more and more. As Judy struggles, Kate is determined to prove herself as someone who can ‘do business’ and keep the place running. Ditzy friend Tess doesn’t help their ailing situation.

As a summer storm approaches, so does Pash, Kate’s friend from Uni, now a successful businesswoman in London (been on The Apprentice, don’t you know?), offering her time and expertise.

Miscommunications and mix-ups lead to friends and family turning against each other and it looks like calm will never be restored until truths are revealed and Kate can’t take the pressure any more.

All at Sea was a breath of fresh air. Funny and moving. A down to earth and relatable story.
